As a leader in cottonseed research, Americot continues to drive the adoption of new technologies that we believe will have an impact on cotton farming, while introducing new solutions for growers requiring additional technologies to remain profitable. Since our company’s beginning, we’ve made significant investments in research and development to meet the evolving needs of growers and their cotton seed requirements.
We were on the forefront of the introduction of the Bollgard II® XtendFlex® Technology, which had a direct and positive impact in the marketplace for growers requiring an additional herbicide option for weed control in cotton.
In 2018, we introduced our first variety with technology that offers three unique proteins against common cotton pests, Bollgard® 3 XtendFlex® (B3XF). In addition, Americot is midstream in the development of varieties with experimental traits related to insect control. Leveraging our continually expanding research footprint, we’re able to provide growers competitive cotton varieties utilizing the latest in insect protection and herbicide tolerant traits – technologies that growers want and need to remain successful across the Cotton Belt.
Our staff of field agronomists are positioned across the Cotton Belt who are responsible for characterizing varieties, supporting Americot sales staff and dealers, and conducting commercial and research trials. Using a process called Americot Cotton Evaluation (ACE) Trials, new varieties are monitored and graded for several critical characteristics, such as vigor, height, NFFB, maturity and stormproof ability. Data for each variety is gathered from multi-state trials, spanning at least two years.
